The Road of Happy Destiny is taken from page 164 of the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous. The first 164 pages of the Big Book is our basic text and is the source and foundation for working all twelve step programs.
Steps one and twelve are different for each twelve step program.
Steps two through eleven are the same
for all twelve step programs that claim to be modeled after Alcoholic Anonymous.
Steps three through ten, on pages 60 through 85, contain the clear-cut directions which must be followed to obtain the results on page 84.
Steps four through nine is the process required to eliminate those things which are blocking us from the Son Light of the Spirit.
With steps five through eight we get right with God and the people about us.
Steps six and seven are the power steps, where the change takes place.
The
Serenity Prayer
God,
grant me the serenity to accept
the things I cannot change;
Courage to change the things I can; and
Wisdom to know the difference.
Living
one day at a time,
Enjoying one moment at a time;
Accepting hardship
as the pathway to peace;
Taking as Jesus did,
this sinful world as it is,
not as I would have it;
Trusting that He will make
all things right if I surrender
to His will;
That I may be
reasonably happy in this life,
and supremely happy
with Him forever
in the next. Amen.
